Accessible Treehouse

Magical Play For All Abilities
Our brief for this unique project was to create a challenging tree house and landscape for a diverse range of user groups. The design was positioned 2 metres up a cedar tree, and had 45 linear metres of wheelchair accessible structures, including a rope bridge, to access the magical wooded space. We also created a beach sandpit and climbing trunks, water play and re-landscaped an existing garden to improve access to sensation to those with limited mobilty.
The design of this playground was heavily informed by those who were going to use it. Children were also actively involved in carpentry and mosaic workshops as part of the project. The site had no drive-on access so all equipment and materials were brought in by hand, and we worked sensitively around the existing trees during this winter build.
