Canonbury Hive

Parkour Exploration & Treehouse Pods
In response to the brief to create a "village" we drew on the form of a beehive as the ultimate inspiration and created a bespoke hexagonal playground structure with a top leaping height of 2.3 metres. The school was keen to embrace the non-linear flowing parkour inspired equipment, and we supported them with training in play theory.
Steel bars, timber ramps and dens allow the children to leap around and hide within the structure. We designed and built a colourful stage in a tricky corner right against the perimeter with green mound seating and two connected curvy treehouses with circular access platforms. Finally, we tackled the landscaping with 40 linear metres of planting to form a green perimeter with integral bench seating.
